Colour theory

This design is a concept for an animation explaining the basic principles of colour theory, based on Itten’s Contrast of Extension’ theory. This says that not all colours have the same visual weight — so when multiple colours are used, their quantities should be adjusted accordingly to create a harmonious composition. As a result, pattern was used to remove parts of the blocks of colour, as a way of reducing the visual weight of the colour without reducing the size of the blocks. The images below show sections of the animation storyboard, showing the transitions from blank screen, to full colour.
